What is the worst/most rude thing someone has said to you at your job??
I have several. I work at a steakhouse.
One time I was asking a man who happened to be foreign what I could get for him and he said something which I couldn't understand and I said, "excuse me sir?" and he goes "SHE CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM SAYING!!" with a very heavy accent, but I heard him that time. I thought it was so arrogant and rude of him to get mad at me because I, a native of this nation, could not understand him.
Another time was when these guys were leaving as I was coming in and they go "hey baby, look at that fine piece of ***"--I was so upset and embarrassed. It was very degrading.
Another time a guy came up to me and told me that one of our Hispanic bus boys had picked up their stuff while they left and went to the bathroom. He proceeded to call him a "taco-eater" to my face. I got so mad at him, I had to bite my tongue unless I wanted to be fired. What are y'alls experiences? :

The first guy actually said "SHE CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT I AM SAYING"--like I was an moron or something.

What a good manager of that optical store to stand up for her employees rights and to not take someone unfairly judging someone by their appearance.

A woman I worked with at an ad agency didn't do her job and blamed it on me. I called her out on it, and she ripped into me in the middle of the lobby and basically called me out of my name several times (I know your question was what has someone said to you, but she called me so many things and mocked my name that I don't even want to get into it). She blamed all of her life's problems on me (obviously out of anger) and then walked out of the job right then and there.
I'd never had anyone do anything like that to me before, let alone quit "because" of me (which I look back on it now and realize she really had issues). I was 19 at the time. It terrified me, and I bawled half of the afternoon.
The president of the company just told me I was fine and that she was psycho. I loved that guy!

I used to be a server, too. It was at a popular Chinese restaurant next to an upscale mall. On weekends, we got insanely busy. On one of these typically crazy nights, I got a little behind, partly for reasons beyond my control. One of my tables, completely unsympathetic to my situation, left a message on the restaurant copy of the bill that I had to turn in to management about what a poor server I was because the service was a little slow. Thanks.
One of the managers was a complete and utter a**hole. Without exaggeration, I can say that from the first day I met him he busted my balls each and every single time he was on duty. Without fail, every time I saw him, even at the end of a shift when my only interaction with him for a whole night was to settle up the money and get signed out, he would have some critical remark. In the middle of our busiest rushes, he would stand there and waste time arguing with me, questioning my every word. On a couple of occasions, he bad-mouthed me to my tables when they complained, no matter if I was the one in the wrong or not. (I've heard that he's since been fired for sexual harassment. It couldn't have happened to a more deserving person.)
I hated serving, not because it was hard work (and it was the most physically demanding job I've ever had), but because of the constant belittling, demeaning, degrading way you get treated by customers. You're basically a beggar who gets less than minimal wage, and who depends on the good graces of the people you're serving. No matter how hard you work, if the kitchen or hosts or runners screw something up, or if your table is in a bad mood, or is full of jerks, it's the server who gets blamed and gets the crap tip.
Sorry that this turned into more of a rant than an answer. ; ) I hope you find a better job where people treat you with human dignity. My office job kind of sucks, but I think it's at least 10 times better than serving as far as respect goes.

One time I was doing drive thru at my job and I do admit, I have a lower voice for a female but it's not really manly sounding, bnut I told the costumer what his total was and to pull ahead and he was like Thank you sir! Another time, I asked a cuztomer if she would like to upgrade to a different side order, so she choose onion rings(which cost more than fries). Well when she got her receipt, she was beyond pissed because she got charged an extra $1.50 for her meal. So I was standing there bagging food, she proceeded to yell at a fellow employee about how I was deceiving and a liar for not telling her that onion rings cost more than fries. And the whole time I'm standing there thinking, duh you isiot, everyone knows that when you get something other than fries in a combo that it costs more.

My manager was asked to fire me because the "designer" for the store (an optical store that sold Gucci, Prada, etc along with lower cost lines too), said I did not have the right look for the store. My hair was too long, I was overweight. She quit rather than fire me.

I am also a server...at the golden corral..lol. But anyways i think your letting it all get to you too much. None of it matters anyways. 80% of people are ignorant. Dont let people walk on you..and dont let them get you down. Your there for one reason (to make money) dont take anything personal. Oh and one time someone tipped me a penny and i ran outside and threw it at the man as he was leaving. Thank god he didnt tell my boss.

Being a surgeon I had to remove an infected eye ball.
Well it turned out I removed the wrong eye and the patient had the nerve to complain about it!
I mean its not like it would have cost him an arm and a leg....
