To Happy Holly - The insult you fling at me is ridiculous. The fact is, Carter was quoted as saying, "I won't debate the issue with someone who knows nothing about it". Let's see, then. Dershowitz is smart enough to have helped get OJ off and he's one of the brightest legal minds in America. What proof does Jimmy Carter have that Dershowitz 'knows nothing' about it? Zilch.

Champ, you left out the hostages at the US Embassy in Iran and stagflation as a list of his 'accomplishments'. Add that to generally meddling in our nation's foreign affairs when he has no official government post, and that, in my mind, makes him a rogue.

By the way, Dershowitz is a professed liberal.

Happy Holly and Drake have it right. Few really know what Carter has been doing for 30 years, and he prefers it that way. His Peace Prize is just the tip of the Iceberg, so to speak. Dershowitz is a mouthpiece for those who would continue to give Israel the "green light" to use excessive force in the Middle East, just as are the NeoCons who Bush speaks for. "Bomb them back into the Stone Age" is their philosophy, and anyone like Carter who really wants mutual solutions has nothing to gain from subjecting himself, and the very important issue, to debating a paid schill for such a primitive view of life and the issues that affect all of us.

Don't be such a dirt ball. Former US President Jimmy Carter won the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize for decades of work seeking peaceful solutions. Dershowitz doesn't have the class that Carter does.
Don''t forget:
Dershowitz also served as the key appellate expert on the defense team in the criminal trial of O.J. Simpson for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Simpson (Wikipedia)
I never said Dershowitz wasn't smart. His motives aren't always honorable.
You called Carter a chicken, and you are insulted that I asked you not to be a dirt ball? You are crying "fowl", pardon the pun. I am curious, how old are you?

No, Jimmy Carter is a humanitarian and a diplomat, and was one of our greatest Presidents. If anyone in this is chicken, it's Alan Dershowitz for being afraid to tell the truth. How's that for turning one around!?

Jimmy Carter is no chicken! Now apologize to all the chickens in the world!
Carter shouldn't engage in a battle of wits. He's unarmed.

Carter is probably thinking the same thing I am, namely, whats the point? His views are in writing. If Dershowitz has opposing views he can put out a book as well.

Yes, he is scared to face a Harvard professor saying that the professor does not know anything about the topic of the middle east. Carter is too afraid to defend his own book, therefore reaffirming that he is the worst president in history. Map read the link to see what Carter is thinking. He accused the professor of not knowing the subject matter. Carter is weak.
BOSTON - Former President Carter turned down a request to debate Alan Dershowitz about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying the outspoken Harvard law professor "knows nothing about the situation."
