I have a 360 and will get a Wii too eventually. I like the way they did the controller and the backwards compatibility and being able to download old games from way back to the original Nintendo base system.
One thing that cools peoples opinions is the complaints about the 360 blowing up with the red circle of death. Well in actuality they have no worse a time about 10-13% return rate which is comparable to most computers and computer peripherals.
Wheras there is apparently a HUGE return rate so far in Japan on the PS3. Unfortunately it is about 70-80% which is shocking. It is close to the first few years on the PS2 when the DVD units blew up around 45-55% in the first 2 years. It is still kind of high right now even. Scary. I want a PS3 but I am holding out for at least a year. They are currently working on mods too because of the trouble with some graphic elements like fuzziness in depth percepion. I am kind of disappointed since The XBOX came out third in the PS2, Cube, Xbox and was the better system. The 360 came out first and i Figured they would improve but maybe not as much as I hoped.
Also there was a lawsuit vs all three companies over the vibrating controller. Well Nintendo and Xbox just wrote a check to solve it and Sony fought and the lawsuit rose to around 92 million. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060518-6862.html
WOW. Sorry now no controller vibration on RPG games so you know if you are being shot by an arrow or something by an opponent behind you.
Oh well make what you will but as is the case with new cars wait a while and let them work out the bugs.
I bought my 360 in April and no problemos. I also like the tv shows from South Park and Adult Swim to CSI and others from Xbox live. Cool. Plus there is alot to be said about Gears of War and Halo 3.
As for Add ons??? My system came with a wireless controller, headset which is sweet and hard drive 20gb. $400
The "new ad on they are talking about is the Blue Ray supposed add on. If you are buying a game system you are retarded if you want a blue ray and won't just buy a standalone recording blue ray when they come down. OH and blue ray may be out in 2 years with the new HD DVD units which are better anyway. I have 2 words for you Sony ... BETA MAX! oh and also MINI DISC! Thanks Sony for being propreitory and not spreading the technology so it stays popular. So far Blue ray is all Sony Pictures and um Disney WHOO HOO. Digital Peter Pan 2!
Oh hey do you have a Digital HD tv? Oh you don't? Who cares about blue ray then. LOL. Wait till the next gen tvs are cheaper they are dropping then get a standalone HD DVD. Buy a game system for games and use it less.
No Game system plays World of Warcraft anyway which is pretty sweet and it is too bad considering the game systems have extra processors to make games run better. They are like those Alienware gaming PCs. I like RPGs and RTS's alot.

Well thats a pretty vague question....but I guess I can give a couple answers?
PS3 is the most powerful, followed by the 360, then the Wii.
PS3 will have the most exclusives and bigger game library
(including the most amount of RPGs, like always)
PS3 online play is free.
PS3 can play blu-rays.
Wii has the quarky new controller.(might make games more fun)
Wii will have the regular amount of party games.
Wii will have zelda, nuff said?
360 has Halo 3(some believe is reason enough to buy it alone(i do not))
360 is out now.
360 rates 2nd in performace....
So depending on what is important for you I would go with that.
Personally? I like RPGs alot, along with their exclusives(Devil May Cry, among others) and like the concept of free internet so I'm going with PS3. Theres a reason for grabbing every system, though. Choose whats best for you.
There is no real "best system", just the best system for YOU.
Edit: after reading one of the above comments, the PS3 price isnt really out of hand, because the 500$ system is VERY good, and will be the one I'm getting. the differences between the 500 and 600 versions are negligible unless you have an HDMI tv(which most of us dont). Also, the online play will be free, so after 2 years its the same price as Xbox 360 anyways, and will thus only go down from there. Wii's price is very very VERY reasonable, though.

It depends on what you want. PS3 will run 360 out of the market b/c Blue Ray will survive. Microsoft simply doesn't have the marketing tools to beat out Sony when it comes to a battle like what's going on with Blue Ray and HD DVD. The Wii will still be around, but what are you getting. It's only a video game machine.
The PS3 is a video game machine, Blue Ray disc player (which the top brands are well over $1000 just for the player), photo/MP3/movie storage, and whatever else it will be upgraded to do in the future. The PS3 is expected to be around for the next 10 years.
It's the same price as the 360 once you add the HD DVD component to the 360, but it has better graphics. The PS3's graphics are the only ones that can actually produce true high definition video. Neither the Wii, nor the 360 can do that.
Wait to buy it though. Every machine that comes out always has lots of glitches the first few shipments. Let them work it out before you spend the money.

PS3, it can do everything the Wii can do and more. It even has motion sensors, like the Wii (it is the main controls for the game Warhwk) Theres also Blu-ray disc drive, which normally costs $1,000, thats whyy it costs so much. With memory stick slots on the PS3 makes it easier to transfer videos music & photos onto its 20GB or 60GB hard drive. It also can play PS2 and PS One games, and dvds. The wii cant even play dvds! It has you can also go on the internet and it even has its own instant messeging program, and the wii doesn't. If you have a PSP your able to hook that up to the PS3 and tranfer files from your PSP to the PS3. You will also be able to use it in more many different things in games (like as the controller and rear view mirror in Formula 1). Plus theres games like Resistance Fall of Man, Madden, and Warhawk (which uses the motion sensors). If there are and glitches or problems i'm sure you will be able to fix them with the system updates, just like the PSP has. It may cost more but that's only cuz you are gettin more and at a better quality.

I went though the same thing, wondering whith system to buy and came up with the PS3. Over all it is the best value and gaming expereance. By the time you get all the addon for the Xbox you would have spent a lot more than the price for the PS3. Plus with the ps3 every thing is already build in, with the xbox you will end up with a frankin system, the WII is just lame for any price.I would wait until the xmas hoopla and get it a the regular price though. And if you donot have HDMI get the cheaper 20 gig system. You can always buy a cheap Wirless acces point for wirless internet or a cheap hub..my 2 cents

Well it looks like your into strategy games so the Wii is right out of there, and the ps3 is only 50$ more than the 360 (20gb hd), there are some nice rpg's for the 360 like fable, but final fantasy is only available for the ps3.
Read online, there is over 1000 articles and what you should buy

If graphics are the most important to you, then PS3 is supposed to be good. I personally have a Wii and I love it because it is so different from the other systems. There are still good games like Red Steel and Zelda.

personally i think you should get the 360 its like the middle man not too much and doesnt have crappy graphics it will eventually have more rpg's and in the meantime play your ps2 the ps3 is obviously the best but it is too expensive also the wii is fun but only worth it if u dont care too much for graphics overall though i would say the 360
