Who said anything about you until now, Pebogirl?

I was asking a political question, not one about you...don't flatter yourself.

I apologize, Jenny B.

I see your point...let me change it to say...

"When John Kerry attacked President Bush during his botched joke".

It's ugly, and low class. It also reveals that the person who is doing the insulting doesn't have any viable points, so they have to go after the opposition personally.

And yeah, I thought you were going to name some names for a minute, there. ;)

I do not know. I think it means they are out of rational arguments.

Your example of Bob Corker (R-TN), however, is incorrect. It was an RNC ad gone bad. They were trying to make Ford look like the playboy he is, and it was misconstrued as racist.

I spent the Summer campaigning in Tennessee (for someone else) and saw the whole race up close and personal. It was very intense and heated, and the Ford campaign probably attacked more viciously, which is why he made such a big deal about the RNC ad.

I'm confused. How is mentioning that Dick Cheney's daughter is a lesbian a "personal attack". Only a homophobe would view that as an attack, given that she is OPENLY gay, and the issue they were discussing was gay rights.

Just as only a racist (i.e., the population of Tennessee, apparently) would worry that a black man might call a white woman on the phone....

How is mentioning that someone's out daughter is a lesbian a personal attack? She was active in the gay movement. And it wasn't a secret. You should have chosen a better example for the Cheney argument. As for the attacks against Harold Ford, I completely agree. It was uncalled for. I think it's because they don't have anything else to hold against them. Actions in public office should be used and not whether someone attended a party that thousands attended.

Thank you for the edit. Although, the joke still doesn't exactly qualify either, seeing as he was attacking his policy in iraq. Sure, he called him dumb, but it was directly because of his policy. His policy is up for public scrutiny.

I don't think they are necessary in politics. I don't think they are necessary on Answers either. People who use them a lot obviously are trying to feel superior to other people, but it doesn't make them look superior. It backfires.
