Well instead of being REACTIVE try being PROACTIVE.
No offense, but most country folk tend to live their lives reactive and not proactive. If you know that they are going to celebrate the 4th for the entire first week of July (like many people do around this GREAT nation), then you might put your horses inside and work on some way to keep your horses calm or transport them to an area where there are no fireworks allowed.
NOW, if these are a bunch of ya-hoos who just like setting fireworks throughout the year, that is illegal. You can call the police department and file a complaint.
Remember the reason for the fireworks......
It's about celebrating FREEDOM. Try to enjoy it.

I'm guessing you are refering to only July 4th as your question was filed into. If its only one day, and their only setting off fireworks for an hour or two, then why worry? Until your horses really do get lost or your neighbors burn something down, then just try to live it out. When Francis Scott Key wrote the National Anthem, he was on a ship where there were exploding shells over his head and everthing was chaotic. Finally, when the fighting ended, he shall the American flag waving proudly and this what gave him the inspiration to write the song.
So unless your neighbors are setting them off illegally as in never allowed, or setting them off any days other than the independence day season, then just try to sit it through. It is useless to tell you to take revenge on them by burning their house down or shooting fireworks at them. Another suggestion is that if you could put things over your horses's ears so that they sounds will be significantly quieter for them.

suck it up. that's one of the reasons i love America. Stuff the horses ears with cotton or sumthing and stop being a party pooper. Anyway those people must have some huge *** fireworks if you live with horses (usually the houses arent 5 ft away from eachother) on a farm...NOW if they are setting them off 24/7 then I take back everything I said and call the cops. have a nice day :)

Doesn't sound like you would have a homeowner's association if you have horses out there.
Only real thing you could do is pay attention to the 'time' the do it and check the noise ordinance info in your area and call it in as a complaint.

Are fireworks legal there? If not, report it to the police. If they are legal, you're just going to have to suck it up. They have the right to set them off.

call the police on him and tell the police to arrest them. maybe it's not illegal to use forkworks at your state but tell the police that they trasspass though your yard to do it adn trasspassing is against the law too. Sometimes, you have to use some rules of the law as a weapon.

When they are lighting fireworks, launch one yourself that comes dangerously close to (or even lands on) their roof. They may think twice.
