I need idea for a gift for my mother-n-law, she is one of those that no matter what you get her she says she likes but you can tell she doesn't. I mean you never see anything sitting around that we had gotten her or she doesn't wear it .
I just want to get her something that she will like for real. She won't give us ideas if we ask either.

If you are not sure what to get her you can always go the "safe" gifts....gift certificates to her favorite restaurant or movie theater. If she doesn't go out to dinner then a framed picture of you and your family is usually something family members like to receive as well.
You could always get her a gift certificate to get her car detailed or her house cleaned or give her a gift certificate to her favorite spa for a relaxing "girls day out"(get two so you can join her!). Does she get her nails done or her hair? I'd go for a framed picture of your family and a gift certificate for a massage or manicure. Depends on your mother-in-law! Good Luck!

something homemade is always appreciated. it shows that you took the time not only to think about something that your mother in law might like, but that you took time out of your hectic holiday season schedule to put some elbow grease into her present. it doesn't have to be anything hugely ornate, but something cute and from the heart is good. think about what kind of a person she is; does she like to cook, does she like a nice glass of wine? personal a kitchen utensil, or get her a membership to a wine-of-the-month club with a homemade card. here are a few things i've done in the past years (i'm a fan of making treats):

VERY SIMPLE olive oil bottle. i painted the bottle with a grapevine type thing for my aunt and uncle.

Cookies, fudge, etc. I have an awesome recipe for chocolate covered cherries that makes a wonderful christmas present and taste better than anything you'll find in the stores!

painted votive holders, bottles, etc. find some transparent glass paint and have at it!

finally: this year i made limoncello for my friends (we are all turning 21 this year, so it kinda makes it something to relate to...) and gave some to my voice coach who said it was the best limoncello she's ever had. i'm packaging a small 12oz bottle up with a martini glass, mini cocktail shaker, and a lemon drop recipe in a clementine crate for each of my friends.

a lot of times, it's easier (and cheaper) and comes from you personally if you make instead of buy. hope this helps. good luck!

She sounds like someone who cannot be satisfied. I would not try too hard in your search for the perfect gift. If you feel burned year after year by not seeing your gift on display, get her something that can be used up and never seen again, like bath and body products or food.

At least she is cordial (or is she?) when she accepts the gift.

if you know of anything she collects you could try to find something to go wiht her collection. or if she is into gardening you could buy some seeds for her to plant. Maybe some new kitchen stuff. like new pots and pans are always nice, and some new cooking tools. umm. maybe a book would work. or if she like to knit or somethign liek that, you could get her some fun string/yarn, also flowers. Vases.
She might like a collage of pictures.
I mean, if you and your husbannd [her son] have children you could get a nice picture frma and get picture of you and your husband and children from when they were babies and little family trips and stuff and make a colage.
or it could just be the grandkids. or just of her son [your husband] growing up. maybe you can get your hands on some pictures of when he was a baby, child, teen and so on.

I hope these ideas help you!

Are you aware of her hobbies/interests. If so, try finding her a gift that relates to them. Doing this should ensure she will truely appreciate the gift. If you know where she shops frequewntly, perhaps you could get her a gift card or two from the store or stores she likes.

My mother-in-law is pretty hard to shop for also but just to make it easy. Buy her candles and / or hand lotions from bath and body. Everyone likes candles just get them in colors that she likes or that match with her living room. As far as the lotions you would have to guess. Its cheap but really nice.

hi there , order some books you see she like to read or writ down your receipt that she eats that you can cook or stop trying and get some plants and don't worry about it then one day she will welcome anything you get in other words don't get her anything if she's that hard to please.
