Pisses me off to no end. Aside from the internalized homophobia going on, and the hating on the femme guys (both of which irritate me), the concept is just stupid. People feel that "gay" (which, as far as I'm concerned, means a guy likes other guys) doesn't describe them, so they try to distance themselves from it. By doing so, they are reinforcing the false definition of the word; you're letting other people define OUR language. And, really, they'll find a way to taint any other word you can come up with anyway; it's a matter of whether you'll fall for it or not.
It's like how everyone now is all kinds of skiddish about being called a "feminist". There are a very few valid complaints about the word, and these are usually NOT the reasons that people avoid the term; they don't like it because the right has said that these are extremist women, always lesbian, who hate men and want to dominate them with "special rights". And people buy into it, and avoid identifying with the word.

Not a problem, although I think we're at the point where we can start saying "masculine" or "feminine" in behavior, versus "straight-acting", for really, what is acting straight but screwing women? But it's a fine term in my mind- because it perectly describes the person. You know what they mean when they say it.
