So

You're "new to punk" but you've already started to hate certain bands with no real reason? You sound like a seasoned vet to me

Try buying some of the Punk-O-Rama cd's-- they feature a ton of bands and you'll get a good idea for which ones you really like. You can buy the CDs even at places like Best Buy and they're only about $5.

Here I'll give you one amazing band from every punk genre that comes to mind, that'll get you started, you can pick and choose.

Fat Wreck sound: Bigwig (not on Fat wreck, but sound like they should be, they rival NOFX IMO, their most recent album 'Reclamation' is their best.)

Hardcore: Kill Your Idols (one of the best NY hardcore bands ever)

D-beat Hardcore: Tragedy (if you like hardcore, you MUST check them out, my personal favorite band at the moment.)

Overly Political, vegan, food not bombs punk: Only Crime (Russ Rankin teams up with members of bane and the descendents to make songs that sound exactly like good riddance, good though.)

Psychobilly: Peter Pan Speedrock (on the punk side of psychobilly, amazing band from Eindhoven rock city, check them out if you even remotely like rockabilly.)

Ska/punk/skunk?: Authority Zero (not a big fan of this genre, but this band has it's merits.)

Wimpy stupid emo crap: Love equals death (makes some pretty good songs for guys that wear makeup.)

This could go on forever, but that should get you started, none of these bands sound alike so it should give you a good base to see what you like and what you dont. Most of these other answers had some great bands on them too.

Bowling for soup, Blink 182 & other 'puss' bands you mentioned are like a sub-genre of punk..they are playing pop-punk or punk-pop depending if they are greater in pop or punk.
So you could've just said you want straight up punk and not any sub-genres or no pop-punk or nothing mainstream. If you're new to punk then you should ge accepting towards alot of forms of music, just to see what you like and what you dont like.
