My boy just cut me loose a few days ago, I'm in terrible shape, and need something to read. Fiction or non-fiction, any suggestions?

In my opinion, stay far away from self help books...you'll only think about things too much! I'm not sure of your taste in fiction, but I'd definitely recommend fiction. I'd get something that is described as "couldn't put it down til I finished it" as that can pretty much guarantee you that you can escape in it & forget about "whatshisname" for awhile! Nothing heavy or philosophical. Good for you for taking such positive first steps to feeling better...you could have been asking "what's the best alcohol I can drink to forget about this jerk quickly?'...lol. If you like crime thrillers, like Grisham, I recommend Minette Walters, in particular Acid Row, and Fox Evil...I couldn't put either down.

This really gets rid of a depression: "Watermelon"
By Marian Keyes
Published 2002
HarperCollins
Fiction
ISBN 0060090367

February the fifteenth is a very special day for me. It is the day I gave birth to my first child. It is also the day my husband left me...I can only assume the two events weren't entirely unrelated. Claire has everything she ever wanted: a husband she adores, a great apartment, a good job. Then, on the day she gives birth to their first baby, James informs her that he's leaving her. Claire is left with a newborn daughter, a broken heart, and a postpartum body that she can hardly bear to look at. She decides to go home to Dublin. And there, sheltered by the love of a quirky family, she gets better. So much so, in fact, that when James slithers back into her life, he's in for a bit of a surprise.

(I hope you're up to it, it will cheer you up).

When I was a lot younger and brokenhearted I read a book called How to be Your own Best Friend. It helped at the time, maybe I should read it again! Sorry I do not remember the author.

sure study extremely an excellent type of books which have made me cry yet one which fairly stands proud is a short tale by using Stephen King in the Batchman books. this is referred to as the lengthy walk and this is impressive. The Virginia Andrews books are touching too.

Anthing by Sarah Dessen, or Burned, by Ellen Hopkins. If you don't want romance, though, read Uglies, by Scott Westerfeld.

when my boyfriend and i broke up i got so depressed i cant focus. it was hard to put myself into reading books that needed a lot of concentration.so i resolved to children's books. they helped a lot in cheering me up. Try reading Shel Silverstine's "The Missing Piece".it has cute drawings too!

Yes. For pure escapism:

"Clan of the Cave Bear" by Jean Auel. It will help you forget everything else.

Good luck.
