In context means that you have a word that by how it is used in the sentence...you can tell what it means. For example: the word - discover. Christopher Columbus was commissioned by a queen to sail the Atlantic Ocean, look and discover a route by water to increase trade relations. You can look at the clues in the sentence...it was about an explorer, he was looking for a route...so disover means what? It means to find that route... the clues in the sentence allow the reader to figure out what 'discover' meant. That is what is meant by - in context. I hope that this information helps you. I would simply pick some words out of the dictionary, and build sentences around them with clues in the sentences to help you show what that word means. Good Luck!

Context clues are a great way to learn new words. For example, consider this sentence: "The sloth, okapi, and toucan are all animals of the rainforest." Even if you didn't know what an okapi was, you could use the context (the other words in the sentence) to figure out what it means.

Your job is to write sentences that help the reader to figure out the meaning of the word. Let's say your word is emerald. "I like emeralds" would not be good for this assignment--there is not enough context to explain what the word means. But a sentence like "The emerald is my sister's favorite gem, because she loves things that are green and sparkly," explains that an emerald is a gem, green, and sparkly. The context helps the reader to figure out the meaning of the word.

I hope this helps! Good luck!
