Hi,
It is called Lasalle. It is on the Island of Montreal on the south/west end. It is close to Dorval (the neighborhood where you find the intl. airport) there are many Hotels near the airport, but I wouldn't stay there, it is not a particularly interesting neighborhood (mostly housing, more suburb type). If you are here for business and don't plan to shop, eat in nice restaurants and visit places, you can stay around there.
But if you want to walk around/shop/visit...etc, I would stay downtown. From there you are close to everything (walking distance of shops/restaurants/attractions) and you can take a taxi to go to Lasalle for about 10-12$ a ride.
Here is a link to canada 411, where you can find a list of hotels in downtown Montreal : http://canada411.yellowpages.ca/business/QC/Montreal/Hotels/00682205.html
Good Luck!

Mel is right, especially about the motels along rue St-Jacques in NDG (which is a neighborhood of what was Montreal City, not of LaSalle) being seedy. But the impression of CrazyCafe (not disposed by Mel) that the airport hotels are nearby is - well - just crazy. They are a 15-25min drive, depending on which part of LaSalle. The major hotels of the west side of downtown Montreal (the English speaking side) are actually quite a bit closer, and the public transportation to LaSalle from there better by far.
I don't know of any B&Bs in LaSalle, or its gentrifying next door neighbor Verdun, but you may wish to check. Search "gites+Quebec+LaSalle+Verdun."
Your question sparks in me that there is a definite entrepreneurial opportunity for introduction of hotels (European type) and B&Bs to Verdun and adjacient Montreal neighborhoods served by the métro, and a motel or two or three in LaSalle.

Hey there ! The city called LASALLE btw doesn't really any major hotels to speak of. It's a suburb of Montreal, Quebec that's literally 10 - 12 minutes from Downtown Montreal by car. A better place to get a hotel is DORVAL ( near the Via Rail Station {train} , STM bus mini-terminal { citybuses to get downtown CHEAP ($2.50 CAD ! Bus #211 EASTBOUND to Lionel Groulx Metro THEN the Green metro line East to McGill Metro station and the heart of downtown !!! :) } , and of course the Dorval ( Montreal ) Airport now called Pierre-Elliot Trudeau Airport. Along Cote-de-Liesse St. in Dorval / Lachine / St. Laurent are numerous hotels to meet any budget !!!!
Best of luck to you ! Hope this all helps !
CHEERS !

There are two options when it comes to hotels close to Lasalle:
1. Near the airport, you will find a wide selection of large chain hotels, like the Sheraton, Holiday Inn, Hilton, etc. These are located along Highway 20 between Dorval and Lachine. Expect to pay around $150 a night. If you don't have a car, public transportation to and from these hotels is limited.
2. There are many cheap, but seedy, motels along St. Jacques Street in the neighborhood known as NDG (Notre Dame de Grace). From here you're only a five-minute drive to Lasalle, and there is plenty of public transportation. Check out this map link: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=motel&sll=45.460612,-73.628397&sspn=0.028957,0.058365&ie=UTF8&z=14&om=1
Good luck!
