This is like asking "what is the point of students? They don't try to learn". You expect teachers to instill knowledge in you and your friends while you sit there, doing nothing, talking with friends, or, god forbid, making fun of the teacher. It is not a one way street. To learn something from teachers, you must put forth some semblance of effort. I am tired of kids coming onto this site to complain about useless teachers. No where do you find teachers complaining about useless students. Grow up, realize that the world does not, in fact, revolve around you, and show some respect to someone who knows more than you do. (And the day that you have more education and life experiences than your teacher is the day that you can accurately claim that you are smarter than your teacher. At least your teacher was smart enough to know when to pay attention.)

To begin with, they teach students to write grammatically correct, contextually meaningful sentences, which your question is not.

At least half the responsibility of learning belongs to the student. Truthfully, most learning happens as a result of personal initiative. A good teacher facilitates that process, nothing more.

And I'm pretty sure no learning ever happened while a student indulged in late-night online anonymous whining.

The point of teachers are supposed to be to help you understand materials and learn. Even though a lot of the things that you come across in school may seem to not matter, in life the actual learning will help. Find a teacher you think might help and talk to them about your opinions and the fact that you don't feel you are being taught.
What grade?

this is a very childish question. they are trying very hard to teach you. believe me, we are not there for the money. we are there because we care about young people. if there is a class with 30 students and we reach half, it matters. we try and get to everyone, but that is not always going to happen. if i cant, then perhaps there will be another down the line who can make a difference for you. open your mind to the possibilities of learning, there is so much knowledge out there just waiting for you! you should at least try and meet them half way. they are there for you.

If you are looking for a "sage on the stage" who is going to give you all their knowledge , you are going to have a long wait. Instructional research has proven that deeper learning goes on when the teacher is the "Guide on the Side" basically it means they help you explore, not give you anything. You are the one who needs to become an independent learner and take responsibility for the inquiry that takes.

The point of teachers...to be intellectual translators who always are changing to put things into a form that can be understood and built upon.

The purpose of teachers is to give you the opportunity to learn. Will you do it? We give you that opportunity, yet it is up to you to take it from there. We cannot do the work for you, so quit your whining and actually do something!
