Hello James D,
Actually Doc is wrong, you can use something besides the iSight, James. The best alternative is to get a digital camera with a firewire cable attachment. You can put a cassette in the camera so that the camera stays on, without going to sleep. Put it on a tripod near your computer and there you go. The firewire is fast for moving video data better than the slower USB cameras that you can buy.
I bought the Macalley "IceCam" for only $40. It's a very simply, basic USB web cam. Check it out here.

You also need to buy a 3rd party software program called "iChatUSBCam" by ecamm Network which hacks into iChat, and to fool it into using the "IceCam".

The camera works with iChat and Yahoo! Instant Messaging with very mixed results. The problem is that USB is just too dang slow and the video data just doesn't move fast enough through your computer and the Internet.
With the new Intel Macs having built-in iSight cameras, I was sort of hoping that the prices on the older iSights would come down in price some. Best of luck to you, James.

the two mac books fluctuate in processor and snap shots card. the 2d having processor around 2.8 ghz is quicker and has spectacular 3-D snap shots than the 1st one that has a processor around 2.3 ghz and a lesser memory snap shots card... Processor determines multi-tasking and alertness loading velocity etc whilst snap shots card determines the in many situations occurring of snap shots in a sport, reveal, video etc...
