I was browsing through a stores music selection online to see what they had. I browsed rock, since that is what I listen to and I see Madonna, Avril Lavigne, Clay Aiken, No Doubt, so then I thought okay they dont know their genres so I narrowed it down to hard rock, and I think i still got No Doubt, Heavy metal thankfully I didnt find them in there. But those people that I named are not Rock bands are they? I was under the impression they were Pop, and nowhere close to Hard Rock. But what do I know I'm just a Rock/Metal enthusiast, I don't know what I'm talking about. But serisously, does anybody else consider them Rock bands? Thats like when the grammys put Jethro Tull in their metal category and they won. I like Jethro Tull but by no means are they Heavy Metal. So am I the only one who thinks this or do other people agree?

thank you everybody, i do tend to stay away from the large stores, in fact most of the bands i listen to are not found in stores, but they are youre true rock and metal bands. I just cant believe how they can get away with putting them into those categorys. I'm waiting for the day when I see, say Children of Bodom or Blind Guardian, in rap. Both on different ends of metal but still metal none the less. It wouldnt surprise me one bit though with how these genres are categorized.

You are completely right! So many bands such as the ones you have listed advertise themselves as "hard rock" to poor little mainstreamer, these miserable beings, not knowing any better, believe them and so the bands are being termed as "hard rock." Real hard rock is guns n' roses, aerosmith, metallica, deep purple, motley crue, and black sabbath

Those examples you gave are definitely NOT rock bands. Who knows what that store was thinking, but they can't be reputable. If you're talking rock/metal, a few bands that come to mind are: Metallica, Otep, Live, Mudvayne, Staind, Evanescence, Disturbed, System of a Down, Hatebreed, Audioslave, Slipknot, Green Day...just to name a few. ROCK ON!

No, they are not real rock bands, I agree with you. It is very hard to find the sort of hard rock music you want in certain stores. I try to avoid the larger, more commercial stores and go for the smaller ones, where you are more likely to come across a real gem.

Those names belong in the pop section and not the rock section of any site...Rock bands are Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Velvet Revolver, Army of Anyone, Soundgarden, Godsmack...all of those are rock bands. There is no way in HELL "Gay" Aikens should ever be listed in anything with the name rock in it.

I would tend to call them Pop or Pop-Rock, but you may find them under different headings depending on the depth of the record store.

just about any of Keith city's songs previously he have been given married...whilst he nevertheless had incredibly a rustic sound left in his music and back whilst he wasn't afraid to do instrumentals like "Clutterbilly" and "Rollercoaster." of direction, for a particular music, you would be able to desire to upload "this evening I Wanna Cry." it incredibly is incredibly a cheesy music, yet i do no longer suggestions that one...and it incredibly is from the final album he did previously getting married. MQ: confident, I do. i myself hate just about all the older trolls to boot! BQ2: Keith city's spouse...I actually have a feeling she made him pass a hundred% pop and took the guitar artwork out of his songs. nicely, the two her or Axl Rose because of the fact he's a freakin' scumbag!

Anyone with ears knows that they're all pop artists. Radio, however, markets them as something more than that, so that's how their albums are categorized.
