are u sure ur seeing the extention ... divx and xvid file extentions should be .avi ... go to tools folderoptions/view and show extentions ... u will prolly need a codec to view it .. try downloading ffdshow from afterdawn its a goodun ... to burn to dvd u need a converter .. see if u can find winavi ... tmpgenc will work also but it myt need its directshow filter on the vfapi tab under environmental settings put to highest priority after u install ffdshow ... and then u need a burning app like nero or an authoring app and a burner .... winavi is easiest... and many settop players will play divx files straight off a dvd ... if urs does thats the way to go, just burn 5 or 6 or however many fit on the dvd as data and ur done ..

The .divx extension is sometimes used for DivX video files instead of the usual .avi, although the actual file is an AVI file. The extension of .divx is sometimes used to differentiate DivX movies from files which are encoded in other formats.
You will need to download and install DivX Player in order to play the movie. It is free, although it comes with trials for other DivX products that cost money... just use the DivX player and it will not cost a thing.
You could also download VideoLan Player; it can play DivX format videos without requiring the DivX player itself. I personally like it better than DivX Player, mostly because DivX Player requires WinXP and VideoLan Player will install on Win98.

Download Divxplayer to watch it on your computer. To burn it to a DVD use your DVD burning software but you will need a DIVX compatible DVD player. You can find them cheap at Walmart.
