I'm talking talent and material here. There are some very talented artists doing horrible songs and some mediocre artists with wonderful songs.

I think the best soul artists nowadays sound so unique. They don't sound like anyone else to me. Mary J. Blige, Fantasia(she's definitely a great voice doing some horrible songs), Corrine Bailey Rae(reminds me of Billie Holiday-not in your decade categories), Blu Cantrell(reminds of the flapper's voices from the 20's-whatever happened to her?)

joss stone could be the next joni mitchell

josh turner the next johnny cash

but i DO NOT THINK that cowboy troy has the talent of Charley Pride, not at all, not even a little bit

there will never be another Elvis, nor another band as great as the Beatles..... yet new greats come out every day

I think that Dr. Dre, in the future, will be thought of as the King Of Hip-Hop, or Rap...

i like this subject, i could go on about it all night.....

Friend, having just opened this, truthfully, cannot think of a single group or artist that brings back the true sounds of the soul artists. They were the best of the BEST, always will be. If you know some, please let me know. I miss music so much. Loved The Four Tops.

I am not musically inclined at all, but I think John Legend is wonderful. He has a soulful sound that might not get all the way to the level of back in the day, but he comes close.

Well if your talking about soul, there really isnt much out there these days, just about everything is rapp. But I would probably have to say Michael Mcdonald, he has a lot of soul for a white boy.

I haven't heard much from her recently, but when she first came out, I really liked Joss Stone- she seemed to have that funky flair of the past, especially in "Diggin' on Me".
