How long does it take for a convict cichlid to lay eggs?

I have a pair of cons and the female has dug out a lil hole inside her cave but I don't see any eggs. Is she going to lay eggs?and how long does it take?

If she is in good condition, it could be as soon as tonight or tomorrow. If both the male and female are experienced they will be excellent parents and you will enjoy watching them take care of their babies (fry).

They will move them from place to place and actually chew up food and spit it out over the school of fry for them to eat. If any other fish are in the tank, I reccommend moving them or they will probably end up dead. Convicts are very agressive when spawning.

The females typically have a orange or reddish blotch on their bellies that the male do not have. Also, the females will be noticeably heavier. The males usually have longer extensions on the fins, top, bottom and tail (dorsal, anal, caudal).

Once they have spawned to gether, it is almost impossible to get them to stop. They will spawn in a crowded community tank even if there are more agressive fish in with them.

Clean water and frequent (3-4 times a day) feedings of high protein food is the key to successfully raising the fry after they become free swimming.

I have spawned both the pink variety and the standard colored and written articles with pictures for our cichlid club magazine on them.

I somewhat have a lady convict that paired up with a jewel cichlids which idk if thats bizarre or no longer yet i moved them to a seperate tank did a water replace it truly is cloudy on the instantaneous yet put in a sparkling fliter and a sponge to the bottom so at the same time as she lays her eggs and fry hatch they wont get sucked up into it yet i considered you wrote upload cooler water so i scooped water out of tank and function about a gallon purely worth of water to readd how chilly might want to i enable that water to get im so sorry im new to thisi had to bypass them because my huge albino water frog and Oscar fish that's humungous replaced into going after her nonstop even with the undeniable fact that the jewel replaced into protecting her and the realm i do see the egg tube down on her tummy ty alicia
