Florida and California both think inmates condemend to death should be given a quick fast death. Why is this? They did not give the people they hurt the option for an easy way out. Why should we give them one?

I personally think that them getting a painless death is a bunch of BS...their victims didn't...the victims family will live the rest of their life in He-- because that person is dead..Does living in a free country mean that victims have no rights and criminals get them all..apparently...I am so sick of hearing how it's only fair that murderers and rapists and child molesters should not have to suffer..BS...They should suffer for days and months in excruciating pain and misery.

No. I don't support the death penalty for a variety of reasons which I won't get into. However, I'm not one of these people who holds midnight, candle-lit vigils outside of the prison on the eve of the execution of a serial killer. For first-degree murders courts are able to sentence people to life without parole or to set parole eligibility far beyond a person's life expectancy. This guy and his lawyers are simply grabbing at straws using these "I'm too fat" and "the medication I'm on will make the execution too painful" excuses. He should have thought about this before he murdered those two women. I'm sure their deaths weren't merciful and painless.

My question back to you is: why should any prisoner be put to death?

Revenge is a pretty pathetic answer in my mind. It in no way alters the past, and only puts more blood on the hands and heads of new participants.

Why not let the killer live his/her life out in prison? Isn't there some possibility that some good might come out of this? A confession? A redemption? An apology?

What good is the death penalty?

Because it isn't fair. I agree with the first answer-- too many people feel they are entitled to things, even though they have made no effort to work or earn it for themselves. That is the root of a lot of problems in this country. It won't be long before the lazy butts lying around don't have enough workers to support them!

The authorities give criminals a fast, quick death because it give them the comfortable illusion that they are "civilized".

The secord part of the question should be: Why should we NOT kill them (the criminals)? Because we are human beings, not God. Human beings make mistakes and a person should not have to pay with his life because of human errors. Besides, going to a federal penitentiary for the rest of one's life would not be an easy way out. Another practical point -- it seems to me it would be cheaper for society to have the criminal spend the rest of his life in jail because of the high cost of appealing his case over and over again. If he is too dangerous to be included in the prision population, then put him in solitary confinement . . . but that might be considered cruel and unusual punishment, too.

Why do you care if they die painfully or peacefully? As long as they meet their end and harm you and others no more?

Are you really so sadistic?

Do you wish to lower yourself and others who will be doing the dirty work for you?

The punishment doesn't ALWAYS fit the crime and the justice system sometimes fails.

Can you conscionably torture an innocent man? Is killing him not already enough you?

Why can't you steal from people who steal from you? Heck, why not just cut off their hands for the pain they caused and they will never steal again.

You seem almost as sick in the head as the people you wish to torture.

Because although criminals on death row are awful people they are still human beings and nothing deserves to be tortured like that- we don't torture animals that attack people visciously- we put them asleep. It's called being moral.

Not to mention there have been cases where someone sentenced to death row was innocent- it was proved before they were put to death that they were not the killer- but had they not proved that an innocent man or women would have been horribly tortured.

I didn't check out your link but I'll take a stab at it.
Today's society is turning into an entitlement society. People think they deserve things and the government is set on giving people everything they can. This includes rights to those who forfeited their rights by violating the rights of others. They believe criminals have the right to be treated humanely, even in death.
Thats a load of manure if you ask me.
