They aren't stupid. That is the same thing as saying that all humans are stupid, or dogs, etc. Maybe you have a stupid beaver near your house. The ones I have seen are pretty intelligent- know to get away from people, can engineer big dams, break down aspen, even cut through large oak trees. Beavers are a keystone species- you remove them from a habitat they are in, and you completely alter the habitat- a lot of other animals will die or have to move on from that area.
