There are a couple of ways to do this.
1) If your system is using an OEM (came with your computer) version of Windows, most of the time the hidden Administrator account has no password. If you boot into safe mode (repeatedly press F8 while your computer is booting) you will be given the option to log into the Administrator account. From here you will have full admin privileges and can change other users' passwords.
2) Use a bootable cd (usually some linux variant). There are downloadable tools out there that will boot the computer into linux and change the SAM file containing user passwords. I have included a link to these as my source.

Most cracked Windows XP types already come activated.... despite the fact that that is unlawful stuff. And, no. Enabling Windows Automatic Updates and in addition downloading documents from Microsoft Update or Microsoft Download web page isn't encouraged with a cracked variation of Windows XP, and can seem a message : "You could also be a sufferer of application counterfeiting"

Windows XP by default uses LM hashes, which are weak. Take a look at http://geeksaresexy.blogspot.com/2006/05/preventing-xp-from-storing-lm-hash-of.html which talks about changing the default.
Also:
Use a cryptographically strong password. Download KeePass (http://keepass.sourceforge.net/) and use it's inbuilt password generator to generate passwords that are both long and have good randomness.

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from Trendmicro. When I have tested it it takes some time to run it but it may be time well spent if it can fix any problems.
Download and run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Download HijackThis---http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis. Run and Save a Log. When you log comes up copy and paste the entire log at http://www.hijackthis.de/ . Analyze your results. You will then get a screen that will tell you if you have any nasty stuff in your computer. Follow instructions to deal with any nasties. CAUTION: This is a very powerful tool. Be careful.
Run the above programs to make sure he has not put a keylogger in your computer.
