It's always got to be the chicken. Thinks about it. In the evolutionary process the creature that we know as a 'chicken' today would have been a very different bird or animal to the first one. As the process of evolution is to evoke change for the better it is probable that the first chickens were easy prey for larger carnivores.. The y probably reproduced by giving birth and in a pregnant state would have been easier to catch, don't forget that they can't really fly. Evolving to lay eggs would leave them less vulnerable and the egg would have the appearance of a stone, thus fooling predators and increasing the chances of survival.

This is a logic puzzle. But, if you approach this scientifically, the egg would come first. First, there was no chicken. Two non-chicken species mated and viola, the first chicken egg!

It's EGG... because it has laid and evolved from the chicken-like dinosaur or any birds from the past and hatched in a new form called Chicken. Environment from the past made it look a chicken from now. Birds need more feathers than Scales!

The egg came first. You didn't say chicken egg. Eggs have been around a lot longer than chicken, so the egg came first.

Coming from a christian upbringing, I would say the chicken. Just like Eve, who then produced the fertilized egg (with Adam, of course)

Having thought of it for years and years, i still haven't come with an answer, without chicken no egg, and without egg no chicken, still I think it has to be the chicken, just like Adam and Eve.

Egggg-
The actual chicken had to evolve from another species, but before it evolved into the actual chicken the pre-evolved species had to lay the newly evolved chicken.
So even though the thing that laid the egg was around first- it wasn't a chicken!!
See what I mean!

The chicken. It is written in the Christian Bible that God created animals and Adam named animals; not eggs.
