I know about at least 2 books made into movies that viewed as if you where turning page by page the book itself. True to the original stories and with very little or no artistic license from the director or screenwritter. If you know about any, would you share with me?

the book turned movie Holes was made extremely well. i remember watching the movie for the first time and remembering specific lines from the book being said. they didnt cut major events out and the movie was just as suspenseful as the book.

I think the first two Harry Potters were pretty accurate- Sorcerer's Stone and the Chamber of Secrets. (The rest, not so much.) I could name a few great movies that were based off of books, but none are as accurate -that I can currently think of- as those. For example, Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley. They tossed in a lot of modern-day language with that one. I can't ever forget the part where Knightley is storming up the stairs, yelling "For once in your life, leave me alone!" Neither Austiny or Lizzyish. But still a good movie. Sorry I couldn't help more. You'll find that there aren't a ton of accurate movies.

The Notebook and What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
Although Whats eating Gilbert Grape, the novel was a lot more vulgar I guess you'd say and more off the wall than the movie, the movie was still made extremely well and stuck to the book for the most part.
And the Notebook, well what can I say about that?
Excellent movie and for the most part related extremely well with the book.

I think The Chronicles of Narnia The Lion Witch and The Wardrobe was a pretty accurate depiction.

I would have to say the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The only thing that was left out in the movie was Father Christmas giving gifts to the Beavers.

Moonshadow already said "The Stand" by Stephen King. But I would have to add "The Green Mile" and "The Body"/"Stand By Me"

But I am still hoping for the Dark Tower movies.

I think the made for TV movie of Stephen King's "The Stand" was probably the best movie adaptation I've ever seen....the book is a long one and the movie was too, but it was excellent!
