If I use 1 vacation day, then I must use 2 vacation days at a time. Also, I can only take 3 Fridays off for the entire year.

Typically, people take their accrued vacation days all at once. Your company might have a policy in place to discourage the splitting of vacation days. Now, if your boss is telling you what you can and cannot do on those vacation days, that would be a straight up NO!

If your boss is the one giving you your vacation days, then he can decide when you use them. It's kind of picky, but as far as I know, it's not illegal. Now, if he were giving you different vacation rules than your coworkers, then that's not right.

You need to take a look at your employee handbook, if one is available.

It is common practice for companies to set their own policies regarding employee time off.

Most employers are willing to work with you! However, (from experience) get everything in writing!

If they apply the terms reasonably to all employees, they can make whatever rules they want.

I would think yes...so it doesn't interfere with the company's best interest, as well.
