I'm a Republican Catholic, and against embryonic stem cell research, just as I'm against abortion and the death penalty. All are against the sanctity of human life. However, if a person is threatening me, and the only way to save my life is to kill that person, I would. If I was pregnant, and giving birth would result in my death, I may have an abortion. If embryonic stem cells were the only way to save my life, I would not be against embryonic stem cells. I believe that all of these things are in keeping with my faith.
However, the jury is still out on embryonic stem cell research. Many scientists say that adult stem cells are just as good for medical research. I'm not sure, but I don't think embryonic stem cell research has ever resulted in a cure.
Check out the link attached. This is what scares the heck out of those against stem cell research.

As a father, I would do whatever it takes to save my child's life and that includes breaking the law if needed. If we would have to go out of country for stem cell research, we would do it. I think the major problem that some conservatives have with stem cell research is that it might be abused which is a legitimate concern considering how many billions of dollars are pumped into and made by the medical companies these days. Did you know that if you get sick from a vaccine or even die, you cannot sue the maker's of the vaccine. They are federally protected from lawsuits.

I work with a guy is hardcore conservative. He curses anyone who is not, even if it is a member of the Republican party. He is against anything that is supported by Democrats or may seem controversial to his Christian values.
But now he is in a bad situation. You see his wife was involved in a bad accident. She had extensive brain damage that could not be operated on. Now if the doctors had the stem cell research that might have been able to save her life. He hates to admit it, but his beliefs prevented his wife from being saved and he is at a loss now. He thinks now that stem cell research should be made available. No one can make a decision like this until their backs are against the wall.
I say let the treatment be available. If the patient or their family members wish to use, let that be their choice, but we should not deprive them of their choice.

You cant kill one child to help another. You just cant do that.
Look, there is no evidence that embryonic stem cells will do ANYTHING. Its just a hunch. If the theory had any promise whatsoever, there was be a huge amount of private investment in the research. There is barely any. No one has faith that embryonic stem cells will make any difference at all. In fact, the human tests that HAVE been done have led to tumors in some cases. It sounds like cord blood cells have much more promise, and you dont have to sacrifce a life to harvest those cells. Please dont let the media make you believe that embryonic stem cells is the answer. By far it isnt.

Embryonic stem cells can be researched just they have to use public donations not tax dollars. That being said the US government ,using tax dollars, has funded stem cell research. Either way, if my child needed stem cells, it wouldn't matter at this time would it?

I could never know for sure what I would do, and hopefully I never will, but I am pretty sure that if there was a way that may save my child, I would do so. I am not trying to offend anyone either, but I just can not imagine having a religious belief system that is strong enough to refuse modern medicine practices. I think that a belief system that strong is great and something to envy, but I can not comprehend it.

First of all, it is NOT against my beliefs at all. I would absolutely DO IT. I am diabetic, and my ONLY hope for a cure lies in stem cell research.

Well, its more deep then just finding cures, its bringing an egg to life into an embryo and then aborting it. Not my way of looking for cures.

Hmm...so you're asking would I ever kill my son? Look, my concious is not that not a big fat p*ssy that I would choose your life or anybody elses to sacrifice my own flesh and blood. Sh!t, I'd die before he does. So, anybody who says no should go to hell.
