My happiest Christmas memory was actually Christmas of 2001.
All of my family was present and even friends that I hadn't seen in many years. We all gathered at my parents home for the festivities, sang carols, laughed, ate way too much, and played silly games.
I also remember listening more closely to my father recite, "Twas The Night Before Christmas". All the family gathered around (as we've done so many years) and the little ones were all wide-eyed and bushy-tailed while they hung on every word he spoke. My father had a bad case of laryngitis that his doctor had been treating, but that didn't stop him from continuing with one of his (and our) favorite traditions. I'll never forget the happiness he showed that year, the smiles found throughout the room, and the feeling of love, family, and friends.
That was the last Christmas we spent with my father, he passed away the next year from cancer. I still have the old book he read from. It waits patiently in his old chair in the corner of my own home next to my tree. Soon it will be read once again, little faces will lean in and light up to hear the words we older folk all know by heart.

When I was in 3rd grade. I got up and "Santa" had left me an American Girl doll! In my stocking I had so many great things, it was amazing. Everyone was happy and everything was perfect.
