Try Dr John, Walk on Gilded Splinters, the chorus is compelling but has a weird feel to it. Most anything by Dr John is strange, but I like it. Frank Zappa, too. A genius, but he was whacked. Howling Wolf would make some really good sample cuts, I think. Tom Waits wrote a lot of stuff that's just plain weird, but is really talented and diverse, don't think that one album will sound like any other. The Doors have some very strange songs on their albums that never got airplay.
Unfortunately, I have a disconnect between songs and names of songs. Sorry.

Beenie and the Jets by Elton John, and songs by Weird Al Jankowizs or Jankovics...some thing like that.
