depend where you live and what your laws are. some jobs you are able to take by the age of 14 but they aren't really jobs. most places it is 16 until you can get a real job..w/ college ed.

The farm market in our town lets kids work a few hours in the summer, picking beans and such, starting at age 12. They start at 8 a.m., before it gets too hot. Laws are different for farm labor. They don't make minimum wage either - they get paid by the weight of the stuff they pick.

At other jobs, it's usually 15 or 16, depending on the amount of responsibility you would have in that job. My oldest daughter started busing tables at a nice local restaurant at age 15 but couldn't get a job at a chain restaurant like Golden Corral until she turned 16. You can't work serving alcohol until you are of legal drinking age yourself.

most at 16

depending on the laws of your state. usually is 18, BUT you can work as early as 14/15 yrs old with a work permit and may have to be signed by your parents.

It mainly depends on what state you reside in. In my state, it is 15. There is some variation depending on where you are,and type of work.

Around here you have to have a work permit to work at the age of 14. But if you are younger, there is always babysitting.
