Personally I am very happy with this new law. I would also like to point out that although the bible may say that marriage is between a man and a woman, that doesn't mean that we should base the laws of the united states on that, especially because there are many people, like myself, who are not christians and therefore feel that the bible does not apply to any governing laws.

and besides guys.. NJ didn't legalize same-sex marriage, they legalized civil unions. big difference.

It's a step in the right direction, but it still creates a 'separate but equal' system, which in the end will have to be modified, either by removing the term marriage from all state and federal laws (which has been suggested in Congress), or by including all Americans in the same language.

Marriage is only clear in religious terms; not in civil terms. Only the Constitution can decide who can get married, not the Bible. I think they should be allowed to suffer the same ball-and-chainery as the rest of us.

Most definitely not, the union of marriage is clear ,....marriage is between a man and a woman. But, don't get me wrong, you know do as everyone please, because, that's freedom in America, but, you cannot be a minority and push a law to suit your needs, and say to those whom follow the law are discriminators, because its a popularity issue for this bill, there is massive people whom opposes this bill, its just not fair to say things that are not true. I just follow my christian faith and the bible set standards for living almost duplicating many laws we have. Like sodomy, its illegal and many more.

Yes I am indeed. All are entitled to EQUAL PROTECTION under the law. By not allowing it, you are not giving everyone equal protection. If you have a problem with it because 'god says so' then let god deal with it at the pearly gates.

Yes, I am. I'm a New Jerseyan (Princeton area) and am heterosexual. I believe that gay and lesbian couples should be allowed to marry and have the same rights as heterosexual couples.
