I visited a sea for teh first time and felt giddy looking at the waves during tide. My friends felt the same. Can anybody explain why does that happen?

Because our bodies are made up of at least 70% water, and our blood has near the same salinity of salt water. There is no where like the ocean shore :-)

All those negative ions that washed over you. They're more highly concentrated near moving water (think fast rivers, waterfalls, and the seashore) and mountain tops. All those places people love to vacation in!

Some would say is it the salty water and the sea breeze that tends to both calm and excite

I don't think everybody feels that way. But it may be because you had some grains of sand between your toes, and it made it feel weird. I usualy just feel tired.
