I'm thinking of beginning to buy somethings from ebay. Do you think it is a good way to get things cheaper or things that you can't find at stores? Is it safe?

Ebay is awesome. I love ebay. I sold on ebay for quite a few years but it became too much work as I still had a full time job.
If you sell on ebay DO NOT take personal checks--total pain the rear. Get signed up for PayPal--that is the easiest way to accept payment.
Also check out USPS (United States Post Office) website. You can get all your boxes and tape for free. Best yet, they will deliver them right to your door.
You are going to have to have a decent camera to take pictures, and a scale to weigh the merchandise so you can calculate the shipping.
Good luck.

You be your own judge.

Ebay is an online classified page. You pay for an item unseen and trust the seller to send it to you in the condition he said the item is/was. Most items come with no gurantees. You never met the person before. All you have to go by, is the rating of his other sales/purchases. Paypal and ebay itself offer some protections, but be aware... there are many restrictions. If you see a person with no rating/history, you won't know if the person is really new or was bad before and just came back with another user-id.

When something horribly go wrong, the ebay (company) will tell you, the agreement is between the seller and the buyer, and the ebay itself is just there to advertise, and tell you it doesn't directly get involved in disputes between sellers and the buyers.

Yes, eBay is safe.

If you have any doubts about the seller you're thinking of buying from, click on the number next to their name; that's their "feedback" rating. It will show any comments left by previous buyers about their buying experience with that particular seller, good or bad. Just remember take a grain of salt with what you read on there sometimes, some people are just never satisfied =)

Yes and No - If you do your research to make sure that the price is right and the dealer is good - and you pay only with a credit card of Paypal, you can get some great deals......I have.........If you do not do the things I mentioned above you can get taken. Especially if you buy jewelry there are a lot deals that look great but are anything but.......check everything out.

I try to deal only with sellers that have a good return policy.

Buy at your own risk. I have had both good and bad experiences on EBAy buying stuff. I have gotten burned at least three times, and there is nothing I can do about it. Both EBay and PayPal point fingers and require so much jumping through hoops and documentation that it just is not worth it either time wise or cost wise.

I have bought numerous items at eBay. I have sold numerous items on eBay. I have never had any difficulty, as long as I read--thoroughly!--the entire auction description. If it is something with which you are unfamiliar buying, then please check it out in local stores first. I bought a printer and didn't realize something was included. Had I researched it FIRST, I wouldn't have had trouble. As it was, I still got the better deal on eBay.

I have bought many items on ebay. I have never had a problem. Remember to never exchange personal information. I always pay with a money order or paypal. Never a personal check!
