I have a 1997 Toyota 4Runner that I JUST replaced the pads and roders on. But, it persists to shake everytime I hit the brakes. I was told that it was due to warped roders, but after I got new ones, my mechanic was speechless. They act worse sometimes rather than others, but I just want it to STOP! Can someone PLEASE HELP?!?!

first of all, I take it by using inspection you propose your state inspection? if so, the inspection isn't by using adequate to diagnose a topic which incorporates the single your describing. also, shaking is often mis-clinically determined as brakes. If the pedal itself pulsates or shakes then warped rotors is ideal. If the automobile shakes it really is probable a the front end concern. Tie rods, ball joints, or wheel bearings. Take it to a mechanic and they are going to "shake down the front end" to be sure which section has play. in the journey that they do stumble on a the front end concern, ask them to educate you the concern, it really is way less intimidating than you ought to imagine. they are going to be able to educate you the action or play at the same time as they pass the tire leftright or updown. type of you could assume to pay 2 hundred-three hundred for pads and rotors (brakes), $one hundred for an outer tie rod, 100 and fifty-2 hundred for an inner tie rod or ball joint, or 2 hundred-three hundred for a wheel bearing. i'd not placed this off, the front end topics have a good protection issue connected to them

If it pulls it may be the calipers what is happening is that one caliper is working more then the other, or one is working and the other is not. One way to check is jack it up have someone step on the brake and the try to turn the tire. You still may not be able to turn the tire but still not be strong enough to stop the car evenly. You can also check the brake pads when one caliper is not working then the pads will not be worn down or only one pad will have wear on the pad in that caliper.

Usually a good way to tell if its the front brakes or the back is if you feel the brake pedal pulsating its the rear if not hit the brakes and the steering wheel its uaually the front...this might help you... I would assume you got a bad pair of rotors or your drums are warped if your running rear drums

It could be that you need to bleed the brake lines. It really depends on how long it was between brake jobs. Did you go to a pro or to an alley mehanic? I would also check those rotors again for warping.

bad drums will also cause this to happen on one,,and it has anti lock brakes on it so your going to feel a little pulsating in the pedal when you use the brakes,,but a shake or a shimmy isn't normal at all,id have them re-checked,,i own a repair shop, and i have bought warped rotors before,,if they set on the shelf for a long time, they can warp before you purchase them,,good luck with it,,maybe this will help.,,have a good x-mas.

If you have doublechecked the rotors (sometimes check at another shop) and they are ruled out as the culprit. Then have your front end/alignment checked. It seems that if it is only occuring during breaking that it is isolated to the brakes.

If it wasn't the roters then it sounds like it could be your tie rods and idler arm. Your mechanic should know this. To check the tie rods jack up the front of your car Right and left side lock your steering wheel and turn your tire with your hand left to right if it feels like its got play then that's the prob.

I agree with changing mechanics. A very real possibility is he is using an air impact gun to tighten your lug nuts, thereby overtightening them. It is not unheard of for a mechanic to ruin a brand new set of rotors in this manner.

on theis vehicle even with new rotors you should have them machined because when you tighten the bolts that hold the rotor to the hub the rotor may no longer be true. so hve some one machine your rotors and problem should be solved.

sounds like you got some defective rotors. if the parts store where you purchased the rotors stocks them on edge, then they were probably warped when you got them. if it is not the rotors, then have your front end(i.e. ball joints, tie rod ends) checked for wear.
