If you mark on your application do not call current employer?

do you think they really DON'T?

They are not supposed to. Obviously there are no guarantees. Usually during an interview, the question of "why not?" will come up. If you have a good and sufficient reason, then your wishes should be respected.

I don't think that they can legally call. I know when I managed and it said not to call I didn't.
