The food chain starts with "what is eaten but doesn't eat" and goes up to "what eats but isn't eaten".
Even though humans are close to the top, other things are predators of humans, we just haven't classified all of them yet. A couple of examples though are: crocodiles, some large cats, and sharks.
But the ranking is established by: what they eat

You are ranked by what you eat. For instance people are higher than fish because people eat fish. Nothing is higher than people.
