the bottom of my feet and the palms of my hands swell up really bad and it's painful. i think it's related to me walking a lot, but it's weird to have the bottom of my feet swell. i have two other kids and my feet would swell but not like this and i was further along in my pregnancy. anyway, has anyone else gone through this? i could use some advice.

discuss it with your doctor as soon as you can but it might just be excess sodium in your diet try cutting back on salt and high sodium products hopefully that will help

I am pregnant and the same thing is happening to me its because when you are pregnant you have more blood flow and if your on your feet a lot where do you think the blood is going. Also it could just be water weight. But if you get swelling in your face and around your eyes call your doctor or go to the emergency room you could be developing preclamsia. There are ups and downs to pregnancy and the swelling is an annoying part of pregnancy and it just gets worse the bigger you get. Good luck and congrats!

Have you had your blood work done yet... If your hands and feet swell unusuallly big then there is something wrong... You could be a diabetic or something they call preemclampia or something like that... Im 35 weeks and im just barely starting to swell in my hands and feet but nothing too serious...You need to tell your Ob/gyn..Hopefully its nothing serious but I have heard really bad stories about swelling in the hands and feet to early in the pregnancy...Hope your pain goes away sweety...fell better and good luck on your little miracle...

From what i know this is due to changes in hormonal levels and metabolism . Your body will holds water so your heart needs to work harder to circulate this extra fluid(water retention). It can be mostly unconfortable. There are some things that you can do like eating high protein foods like cheese, fish, meat and beans and drink alot of fruit juice or water. This can help you decrease the extra fluid your body retains. You should rest with your legs elevated higher than your heart.
Take care...

Stay away from salty foods, that causes you to retain water. Just relax and soak your feet in warm water and keep your feet elevated. It is best to see your doctor for a proffesional oppinion.

My advice would be to call or see your doctor as soon as possible. Some swelling is normal during pregnancy however it could be something more serious such as preeclampsia.

Contact your doctor immediately. Swelling of the hands and face with dizziness is very serious.

honey i would see your doctor or midwife about this as it could be a sign of pre eclampsia but by the sounds of it you could be on your feet to uch causing water retention in your hands and feet.
rest up as much as possible and get friends and family to help out more.
hope its just nothing and you just need to rest hun.
good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x

My sister had the same problem with her first kid but she has a problem with water retention. They had to put her on bed rest when she was 4 months pregnant. She also had to go on maternity leave early from her job. You might want to tell your OB about this.
