I definitely like subtitles, because you can hear the actor's voice, and the nuances he/she was trying to convey, whereas with voice-overs it's just not the same.

Subtitles, definitely. There's a small pool of actors doing voiceover, and it's sometimes disconcerting to hear a familiar voice.

The only time I like dubbed films is when I'm watching them on a tiny DVD player.

Lately I've been watching Dubbed anime more than subbed because 1. I prefer watching it on my Ipod Nano (screen size). I can still read the subs depending on how big they are, but I find that the whole show flows better when you don't have to keep up with reading the subtitles. 2. Unless the dub dramatically changes the overall story than what is a little change in dialogue gonna do? I'm not gonna sweat it if the dialogue isn't an exact translation because sometimes a thing said in the original language doesn't translate well/ doesn't make sense in English. I don't know if that makes sense, but I hope you get what I mean. However, I will read subs if the dub quality is poor, or if someone recommends the sub over the dub, then I'll check it out. I'm not anti-sub by any means, but sometimes I get tired of reading the subs (I'm a fast reader). I've noticed that I follow the story better when I'm not constantly having to read the subs. More watching, Less reading!;) Conclusion: Sometimes it depends, but if possible, the dub is what I'll watch.

For the most part, I'd prefer neither. I like to watch a foreign movie the way it was meant to be seen. It's interesting how much you can pickup on just by hearing the inflictions, tones and ranges of the actors voices, and their body language. It's really fun actually, I'd rather watch an unedited foreign film than a standard north american film any day.

I prefer subtitles, this gives you the chance to learn words in a new language. You get to listen to proper pronounciation. With voice-overs, i just feel that the film loses some of its appeal.

Well I don't like having to constantly read subtitles, it gets annoying, but I cannot stand voice-overs! Usually the person doing them has a very strong accent that is hard to understand.

I haven't seen very many foreign films. However, I must say that I prefer subtitles. My two favs are Maria Full Of Grace and Cache. I don't feel that these movies would have been quite as interesting if they contained voiceovers. It would take away from the movie by being rather distracting.

Subtitles...it gives more a feel for the movie since it has original voice actors
