I just love the challenge of trying to sell people stuff that they don't want or need and usually ripping them off at the same time. I love people, but I just love the feeling I get when I make a hard sell. Does anyone else feel this way?

no but I wish I could feel the same way. I can only sell useful stuff without pushing it on anyone and am bordering poverty as a result. You are doing what should be done as people expect you to rip them off so the best way is to work on the BS lingo then do just that, everyone's happy.

It is not abnormal to enjoy any job that you like. But it is sad to hear you say that you enjoy ripping people off. I don't know your product(s), but whatever they are I'm sure they can be sold without taking advanatage of some one who doesn't need them. As a young man I did phone sells for magazines and at first it didn't bother me but then as I realized we were sometimes ( many times) extending subscriptions to older people for 5 -10 and even is some cases 20 years. I began to have problems with myself. I thought of my grandparents and not wanting someone to do that to them. Why hard sell, or sell by leaving out facts, that is lying you know, when you can be legit. I could no longer sell to 80 year olds ,extensions on magazines that already were out many times 10 years or longer. Most would never live that long and retirees usually need every penny.

I got another phone sells job, selling honestly and took pride in my ability to sell effectively without cheating folks. Later, I grew tired of that work. went to college and got another career, etc.

It's Ok to like selling, but not to like cheating people. that is criminal behavior. I think you are having guilt over this and that may be why you bring it up. I hope you are not guiltless about it.

Go sell somewhere that you can be proud of. You'll be happier and people will like you more.

God Bless and Merry Christmas

Well, firstly, define normal.

Secondly, it's good to love your job. That's a difficult thing to attain. But maybe you'll get the same high from selling something that's actually useful and helps people. What you're doing perpetuates society's disease of negativity, the society that YOU'RE IN. So basically, you're ****ting where you eat, pardon the asterisks.

I'm sort of in a similar position. I type for property valuers (and enjoying it) so I feel like I'm working for the enemy in a way, but I'm doing it for the experience coz you can't knock what you haven't tried, so they say.

You sound like a real douche; you should feel bad for annoying people and trying to take advantage of others.

I don't think I would as a telemarketer. Good for you! If you love it, then you can be assured that you will never be out of a job.

As for me personally, I don't like telemarketing. I was hoping laws would make it illegal. I hear now that companies can go around the "No Call List" now.

Frankly I could not stand that kind of work but it is definitely NOT abnormal to enjoy it. If you indeed succeed at it and like it you are a natural born salesman and can make great $$$ in a sales position looking for a 'self-starter'.

I guess you also love have the phone slammed down on you, being cussed at and being totally annoying...
If all this is fun for you then I guess it would be normal..

Wow! If you love stress and rejection that much you might as well go into politics!
