yup, both are dual core processors. while the Core Duo is the 2nd last generation, the Core 2 Duo is the lastest generation of mobile CPUs.
core duo's are named T2xx0
core 2 duo's are named T5x00 (2MB L2 cache) and T7x00 (4MB L2 cache)
the main difference between the two is the improved architecture.

Core (2) Duo's are not the first dual core processors Intel has produced. they made a while before the Pentium D, but these processors were only used in desktop PCs.

Intel Core Duo is the first generation of Dual Core proc from intel. While Intel Core 2 Duo is the revised version of the Intel Core Duo.

Basically it means when Intel released Intel Core Duo, they were so anxious to release it that it has some minor complications. They did it to rival AMD new procs. After that they release the new Core 2 Duo to stand out onto the top.

Core 2 Duo > AMD AM2 > Core Duo

enable me 2d what C-guy suggested. For tremendously lots each and every sport and alertness out now, and for the final public of video games and purposes over a minimum of the subsequent 2 years, having a twin-center as against a quad-center will make in simple terms approximately no difference in everyday purposes. even nonetheless, having a quicker CPU will make a extensive difference. 3GB as against 4GB will make in simple terms approximately no difference, distinctly in case you install a 32-bit working gadget. in the case you gave, the quad-center is extra useful in all respects. 4 cores are unlikely to ever be worse than 2. and 2.66GHz is often going to be extra useful than 2.0GHz (except the twin-center is from a much extra moderen line, yet it relatively is uncertain, and Intel's oldest quad cores - Kentsfield - at the instant are not diverse adequate from the latest twin cores - Wolfdale - to outweigh the clock velocity difference). replace: The Q6700 runs at 2.66GHz, so as which will make the quad center a quicker CPU than the twin center on the comparable velocity. even nonetheless, it won't make all that lots difference for 2 reasons. First, maximum application accessible as we talk and for here couple of years can no longer take great thing approximately extra effective than 2 cores o.k.. 2d, those 4 cores are sharing the comparable FSB and memory, and which will start to be the proscribing ingredient.

Even tho core 2 dou is faster it is better if you buy core dou because laptop power isnt that good as the desktop one and if the processer is too high it will not work the way you want. I have been working with computers for 4 years you can trust me
