As described above, it's called multi-booting. If this is a clean drive and you are wanting to install multiple OS's with Windows XP as one of them, you would want to install this last. It will overwrite the MBR otherwise.
If this is not a new HD, you can use software like Partition Magic to repartition the drive to make room for the new OS.
Also you're going to need to use a boot loader, like GRUB or LILO. GRUB has a little higher learning curve but it supports most (if not all) OS's out there.

yES. YOUWILL HAVE O SET UP A PARTITION. IF YOU JUST PUT IN THE NEW os INSTALL DISK THE INSTAL WIZARD WILL WALK YOU THROUGH THEOIPTIONS
