Note, this is an approximation, since any decimal representation of pi is just an approximation. Pi is not "equal to" 3.14 or even 3.1419, these are just round-offs. How many decimal places you need depends on your application. If there is no application, if this is just theorietical, I don't round it at all, I give the exact value, in terms of pi. that is, 4232 pi.

The answer is 8 x pi, not pie* x (23 x 23) = 13295.22 (approximately).

All four of the previous poster are encouraging a bad habit.
Most calculators have a value of pi in them. Use that rather than 3.14 or 22/7 or any other approximation. The value that your calculator uses when you use its stored value is the most accurate for your calculator.
