I wondered the same thing, so I tried to look it up on the internet. The actress who was originally Sydney, Nicole Paggi, just left after the first season. I couldn't find out why, but it seems to me like she wanted to try new things. After Hope and Faith, she was on a lot of other shows like Pasadena and CSI. I hope that helped.
