"All things have fears, but the brave put down those fears and go forth, sometimes to death...but always to Victory."

Also, Tacitus once said, "the more corrupt the State, the more numerous the Laws."

I feel that America, Britain and many other countries have gone way too far into a Police state. Our histories have shown us that the only way the people ever get rights and freedoms is through blood and tears. Those hard won freedoms are easily stripped away and only possible to get back through revolution. Our laws allow the rich to steal, rob, and kill for their hordes of blood money. Yet someone who sells herb's to support their starving family gets at least 4 years in prison and slapped with a felony that will pretty much guarantee that they will never get a good job. We have Cigarettes and Alcohol legal but herb is not! People are just cattle, even though these truths are self evident, that mass corporate power is quickly gathering it's strength for a unified world Mega Corporation that will rule the world. People look away knowing in their heart of hearts that they are dooming their future generations to an endless cacophony of suffering and slavery. If history has taught us anything, it's that **** floats to the top on the coattails of genius and then kills the goose that has laid the golden egg. So many people credit the power elite with our countries success, yet all they have done is to surround themselves with brilliant people to do everything for them. The power Elite have built us a gilded cage, giving us the illusion of freedom while in reality centering our lives around that which makes the world go round. We spend our existence chasing the corporate dollar and in reality we just turn the wheel to their blood machine. It is time to go forth with courage as our guardians have done before us. There will always be those who criticize the brave and thoughtful creators of a better existence. To them I say, your ignorance will bear you little fruit, when your children are doomed to a planet bereft of the gifts that you have so indiscriminately devoured, leaving nothing but ash in your waste!
“A people who trade liberty for security deserve neither.”
“In Life there is nothing to fear, only understand.”
“Life is not an eternal search for God: it is an eternal expression of God.”
Brave ones, go forth into the unkown.

Its too bad, but the younger generation might just loose that freedom. If you do not even know what it is you could be conned into voting it away. For your own sake start studying . And do not only read one political viewpoint. And regardless of your religious beliefs or lack of them, read what the church says about freedom of speech. I think it was at Columbia University that some students had the idea that a group they did agree with should not be able to give a speech. The group had been invited to the school. Our liking or not liking what is said isn't the point. The Dixie's had their say. And then they had to Put up with what others thought of what they said. Give and take. Thats how its done here.

Well, one member of the Dixie Chicks voiced her negative opinion of the President at a time when his popularity was extremely high. That was her right of free speech. A lot of people objected to that and exercised THEIR right of free speech by boycotting their concerts, records, CD's, etc.

Most people are open about it, but a very vocal minority believe that only they have the right to voice their opinions, and anyone who disagrees with them is wrong. As usual, the whole thing was blown way out of proportion by the media. If the matter had been dropped, people would have found something else to complain about!

You have no right to free speech to say what you did at work. Many people, you included, fail to get the meaning of free speech. Free speech means you can criticize the government and policies peacefully without fear of arrest or retribution. It does not give you the right to tell your boss he sucks and his company is crooked. Based on your questions a doubt you have the ability to whip anyone.

1) Free speech is a constitutional right. Nobody stopped them from speaking.
2) Free speech gives others the right to criticize them.
3) The constitution DOES NOT guarantee the right to speak without repercussions. People are free to buy or not buy whatever music they choose.

The 1st amendment is a double edged sword.

Freedom of speech and artistic expression is definitely a constitutional right in the U.S.A. .

To boycott misical groups' concerts, and to refrain from buying any of their music are also constitutional rights, and do not violate anyones right to free speech.

Dixie Chicks are still free to say whatever they want.

I jope this clears things up for you.

That's not a very good example, because that is free speech at its best. They said what they wanted and were heard by many people as they have a right to do; and many people did not like what they said and boycotted them, as they have a right to do.

Now, is it constitutional for our President to be routinely wire-tapping the conversations of Americans, as he has been shown to do? Absolutely not. Is it constitutional for our President to pay large sums of money to the media to affect what is said by the media, as he has been shown to do? Absolutely not. The list goes on and on to terrifying lengths as to the unconstitutional, Orwellian and draconian things that have been going on right underneath our noses.

I don't remember the Dixie chicks being arrested or any other government sanction coming down on them. What does the freedom to say things have to do with what happened to them? If they don't have any better sense than to **** off there core audience like that, then they have to deal with the result.

I fully support the Dixie Chic's and there views on things.and anyone that doesn't will get there a s s kicked personally by me.how about THAT for free speech feller. I will fight to the death for anothers right to disagree with me though.people should have more of a detached respect for others views.but Americans like to fight and raise hell.Y'all, especially we Southerners if we have a cause.

They exercised THEIR freedoms by saying they didn't like what the Chicks said, and refusing to buy their products.

Freedom of speech only means that, in most cases, you can't be arrested for what you say. It doesn't mean there's no consequences to saying what you choose to say.
