I can write the music on my guitar very easily. The problem comes when I try to write lyrics. How do you do it? Is it better to write the lyrics first and then the music or vise versa?

It's better to write a music first..
After you feel the music...
You can try by writing your feelings out..happiness, sadness, anger, depression.........
then slowly match it with similar words or something..
it helps..
Then slowly use your lyric to match up your music..

I hope you get what i mean, I'm a chinese( english not so good)
I have a band myself, do ask me anything if you need help...

I personally find it better to write the lyrics first, therefore you aren't following the lead of the music. Lyrics should come from the heart. As I have said before, lyrics don't have to ryhme, they just have to make sense. Think really hard about your words and when your finished double check it so its just right. Hope I have helped you. :)

Well, there are lots of songs that flawlessly sum-up bits of my lifestyles, and {surprisingly} one of the parties within the tale I'm writing. But, to persist with the factor for as soon as {!}, this targeted tune continues making me believe of a specific conflict the UK & US are presently combating :~ Child In Time ~ Deep Purple Mond Tanz / Child In Time ~ Blackmore's Night "Sweet little one in time, you'll be able to see the road The line that is drawn among the well and the dangerous See the blind guy - capturing on the global Bullets flying, taking toll If you have been dangerous - oh lord I guess you've And you have no longer been hit through flying lead You'd bigger near your eyes, bow your head Wait for the ricochet" Though of path, you would practice the ones lyrics to nearly any main clash of the final ninety-years. And simply in case no person is familiar with what I imply, I believe it somes up the attitudes of the polititians ~ the men and women who don't seem to be truthfully in the market having to battle. One day, it'll all come again on them.

You should try to write a poem then figure out a guitar chord pattern for the lines. The more you work at it the better you will get.
