I don't fine much hypocritical about it, so long as you understand that in places like Asia they eat cat and dog (not in all areas but a good few) just like we eat chickens and cows, along with the fact that in India the Cow is worshiped, and the thought of killing and eating a cow is just like killing and eating the pope. As for myself i am an animale lover, and i will not eat anything i do not have the conscious enough to kill myself. I eat chicken and pork and beef because i have at least once before killed these animals for food, i will not eat a dog because for some reason i do not think i have the heart to kill a dog and eat it. As for animals being more or less worthy, al animals deserve to live full happy lives before they die of old age or are killed to feed a family. Pigs for instance, have twice the intelligence of dogs and are far easier to train as pets, yet they are considered livestock while dogs are mans best friend. It all depends on you and your conscious, if you can happily eat a cheese burger next to your cat or dog, then please feel free to do so. It is not wrong to eat meat, it is human nature. We have been killing and eating animals since the dawn of time, and likewise, animals have been killing each other for food and defense, even territorial disputes. If it will help you sleep better at night to become a vegetarian and have your household pets, then once again, more power to you. It all depends on you and what you think is right and wrong, do not listen to Peta or rednecks bias opinions, do whatever you feel is right.

The same. I read about a lady that had a cow. She fell off a ladder and the cow stood by her until help came. Another lady had a really big pig. When a man broke into her house, the pig grabbed his leg and threw him thru the kitchen wall into the living room. I went to a country store that had a goat for a pet, inside of the store. Being a city boy, and the goat was very young, and very friendly. I petted it, but had to ask "ok, what is it?" Everyone laughed.

omg I have a horse that is SOO spoiled that he can't stand for me to pet another horse without creeping up between my hand and the other horse!!! I have bonded and spoiled my horse since week one..literally!! My horse and I have such a special bond that I don't know what I would do if something happened to him...he's almost 2 now and still acts like a spoiled little baby!!!lol
"barnyard" animals tend to have a closer bond to me than regular animals..."barnyard" animals have more love to give it seems like!

Of course, but it's just more unlikely. Because all different animals have different behavioral methods, and it's the reason why you can domesticate a cat or dog, but not like a fox or an opossum.

I would initially say that 'love' is projected on the animal by the human. And the animal does what the human wants to get food.
But my grandmother used to have a big old tom turkey that would spot her from across a field and run up and lay his head on her shoulder when she kneeled down.
They may not feel love or know what love is, but they definitely get attached to their humans.

Yes of course all animals have personalities and can be trained to love their owners, My cousin has all those animals and they all love her as long as you spend time with them, just like cats and dogs.

I have 4 dogs and two horses. My horses love me just as much if not more then my dogs. When I was boarding horses before they had a calf and he was a sweetheart and loved people. I say yes to your answer. If you treat them the way they need to be treated and you love them then they will love you back.

Absolutely they can. I bottle fed a little pygmy goat and he acts like I'm his mommy and follows me around like a puppy whenever I'm outside. He loves to be cuddled and cries for me and comes running as soon as he hears my voice. He is every bit as attached to me as my dog and cats are.
