it is one guy who likes his computer and one day decided to make a band with his computer! synthesisers and tech crap.
they aren't real.

Damon Alburn decided as a joke to create the band as a piss take to the music industry Quote " a bunch or cartoon charachters could have a number one."
He tried to refuse the first adward till his label told him he'd better.
Pretty much everyone has worked with them from Roots Manouvre to De La Soul.
I forget the names of the original line up, but they all come from bands that were famous in their own right.

well damon albarn from blur started the band, and Jamie Hewlett of course, they created the four characters that we see in the videos and concerts..2D, called murdoc, noodle, and russell..
