What the heck is it about WWE, Wrestling thats so freaking interesting?
You KNOW its fake, you KNOW its stupid, you KNOW the arguments are made up, you KNOW theyre just acting...
So what is it?
My husband FIGHTS to watch this crap, and insists I should like it too, but i honestly can only laugh whenever I see it. Its so stupid, its like some horrible male soap opera. *barf*
Doesnt it remind you of children fighting? Or tralier parks and wife-beaters and beer cans? Or guys with mullets with three letter names?
How can you watch this stuff? What is it about it thats so amazingly interesting?

I dont mean to be offensive.. i just wonder if its something that plays on that intert greco-roman homocidal man on man savage animal thing that guys secretly wish they could be part of... You know, conquest and killing and honor and all that... stuff.

As you yourself have made the connection and others above have stated... it IS a soap opera for males.
The main problem is people "on the outside" that aren't making the separation between actual sports and a show about a sport. They think it's supposed to be an actual sport, and when they see it isn't, that's what they criticize. Again, as above, unless its a documentary or something, almost every tv show and movie you see is "fake". Doesn't mean an action or martial arts fan isn't going to watch a martial arts movie with wireworks, or choreographed fight scenes... or a real sports fan going to watch a show or series about football with all of the sport scenes scripted and choreographed as well.
Once you get past that and realize it's a made up tv show just like any other show on tv, then it just becomes a matter of preference. You can say the acting is bad, you can say the storylines are formulaic, etc etc... but you can also say the same thing about daytime soaps, sitcoms, and a lot of the dramas out there too. There are avid fans of all kinds of series out there.

Why do women watch soap operas?
Men like the action, the trash talking, the fantasy that you can go around and bash somebody with a chair or a table and not be arrested for it.
Then their is the beer and the hot women these days.
Plus it is something you grow up with like cartoons and you hate to give up your childhood.
Women like romance. Men like wrestling.

"it's a soap opera for men that occaisionally includes weapons like folding chairs, ladders and barbed wire"

Yes, it's fake, it's "stupid", the arguments are made up, and they're just acting....
...But so are movies.
