I had high triglycerides and low HDL (that's H for healthy) which should be high. My doctor told me to take Fish Oil, 1000mg three times a day. After three months he checked me again and those two things were perfect. To get my high LDL down, he then prescribed Zetia 10mg and Lipitor 10mg. Everything is perfect now.

I had the same problem. My Dr recommended fish oil...omega 3 fatty acids. I got a prescription for Omacor and it worked! Omacor is a pharmacuetical grade omega 3 fatty acid. You can get it over the counter but make sure it's high quality...fish oils are notorious for containing heavy metals and PCB's. You might try www.icelandic-omega-3.com or visit your local health food store for a pure fish oil capsule. Omega 3's have other beneficial effects....good for memory, joint health, etc.
