YES....i rescued a pomeranian named scooter and a yorkie named suzi. my pom had been hit by a car. it snapped his back and paralyzed him( back half only) the director of a rescue organization contacted me and told me about him, they were going to kill him because he needs to be diapered, even though he was in absolutly no pain. i beged her to let me have him and she agreed with out hesitation, i have had him for 6 years and him and his wheelchair go everywere with me!!!

Suzi had no name when i got her at 8 years old, she was just b itch #whatever she has deep emotional issues that we work on daily. she is healthy and i am glad i got her in time to let her have lots of healthy happy years!!!

i love rescue. my mother is a major member of save a yorkie rescue out of reading. and i thank you all for your compasion and heart!

I have 2 rescued cats. Itty Bitty is my first kitty, her owner died, and she ended up staying in a cage all day at a vet clinic, so i took her home. She is the best kitty, and i couldn't ask for a better pet. Elliot is a little siamese mix that we adopted. My boyfriend insisted on having her because she needed to be saved, but also because she is SOO cute. But she is a MONSTER! She is so naughty, but i still love her to death. Any other animal i will ever own will be a rescue. There are so many animals in the world that need help.

Yes. My dog was put up for rescue via her breed's rescue group. Her previous owner bought her as a gift for his fiancee without giving it any thought. She was just a cute face in a pet store window. She was crated for 12+ hours a day, as both worked full time and were in school full time. After 6 months of this prison, they realized that it was a bad choice for them and did the responsible thing of giving her up to rescue.

I had lost my cat the month before and was ready to have another pet in the house. My pup came up for rescue the same week I turned in the application. She made the long trip to her foster home, we made the 3 hour drive to see her and took her home on the spot. When we got home, she marched in, sniffed around, and jumped right up on the couch and laid down. She was home.

She was 8 months old, is a beautiful purebred who was partially trained, fully vetted and fixed, and was roughly $150. We've had her just over 2 years, and we are so happy, and lucky, that she chose us.

I rescued animals in the past, a Golden Retriever out of someone's backyard who couldn't afford her anymore(with the owners permission of course), a stray neighborhood cat that was going blind, deaf and toothless to give her a place to come home to when her time came to cross the Rainbow Bridge(we had her for 3 yrs before that happened) and this year I found two male ferrets at www.petfinder.com at a Humane Society Shelter 1 1/2 hrs away from me. I kept watching the posting hoping someone would come to get them, because the shelter was not a NO-KILL, but noone did. So I drove to meet them and had them dancing and "dooking" with joy within 15 min. They told me the youngest one was mean, but I couldn't leave him behind. He was a nasty little biter. When I asked the lady at closing time when I could pick them up if I wanted them she just said "Would you be able to take them NOW??" So I took the boys home and slowly introduced them to my girls. And now all four of them are getting ready for their first Christmas as a quartet in my house. I love my ferts. BTW, the youngest boy no longer seriously bites and he's sooo smart.

Yes, most of my pets have been in a different home before comming to me. My dog was in an abusive home and the daughter(who's father was hitting the dog) posted an add at the SPCA. I fell in love with Buster the black cocker spaiel when I first saw him! My cat George lived with my parents until my Mom left my Dad and he wouldn't let my cat inside, it was the middle of winter, so I went and took him home. My other cat Morimoto was an SPCA adopted pet, I was working there and this beautiful siamese cross came in with severly frost bitten ears(he lost the tips) so I took him home to foster and couldn't bring him back. My snake was from a family that moved here and didn't have the room or time to care for him. 5 of my fish where from a family that was moving out of provence and decided not to take them with them. 2 of my fish are from my son's pre-school teacher, they kept eating all the little fish in her tank. I got a fire bellied toad and newt from freecycle because the owners didn't have the time anymore. My mice where petstore feeders(ment for snake food) so I guess I rescued them too. They are all doing great, they seem to fit in here perfectly!

yes my black cat (who is currently keeping my lap warm) was dropped off at the vet clinic I worked for. The mom and litter were very sickly and unfortunately we put the mom and kittens to sleep. However Smeagol was saved because my husband (then boyfriend) fell in love with him because he was so ugly and the runt. He seriously looked like Gollum/Smeagol from Lord of the Rigngs--big head with hair loss, skinny legs, and a very bloated belly. He could fit entirely in the palm of my hand and I have small hands. The vet let me keep him and we vaccinated and wormed him. He is now a little over 2 years old and other than the occasional get into the dog food and binge episodes, he is a very healthy and ornery cat.

And also like the movie character he is named after he has split personalities evil and less evil (aka asleep) ;)

I currently have two pets that I have rescued. One, is a horse named Misty. She is pretty old and has alot of arthritis. We paid $50 for her. She was being starved to death by her previous owners. She has gained at least 200 pounds since being in our care since the end of summer.

Second, we have a dog named Maggie that was living in the bushes for about a month. Noone could catch her until I tried. When she finally let me catch her I had her groomed because she was severely matted. After being at my home for about a week, she delivered 4 puppies. Two died and two survived. Maggie then "ran out of milk" and I had to bottle feed the puppies for a couple of weeks. They ended up very healthy and adorable!! Maggie is now fixed and has a home with us and our other animals.

I got a almost white sheltie from a sheltie rescue group. She was used in a research lab. We got her with almost no fur, all shaved off and an deformed chest. From all the tests done on her. She is a very friendly and loving dog, no bad memories. Loves everyone. Loves to be petted and talked to. Use to avoid looking at herself in the mirror. One blue eye, one brown. And cannot bark. No vocal cords. But she is an explosion of happiness. NOW she stares at herself all the time in the mirror.

we've 3 rescued pets on the 2d. Jewel is a livestock canines combination who would be sixteen this 12 months, then we've 2 cats, Popeye (who incredibly does purely have one eye), he's 3 and Belle who's approximately 14. Our Border Collie, Duke, in simple terms kicked the bucket in November. We have been given him an analogous time we've been given Jewel. He replaced into 4 as quickly as we've been given him and he replaced into 18 whilst he died. he's very ignored!

well it wasn't me that rescued our cat it was my husband but when he brought him home I was the one that knew how to care for him. My husband found a baby kitten at work abandoned by it's mother in the freezing cold and he was worried the kitten would die so he brought him home to me. The kitten was about 10 days old with only one eye open, I wrapped him in a towel and bottle fed him and now he's the biggest baby in the house cause he thinks i'm his mommy so he won't go far unless I'm there and when I was away for a few days out of town he wouldn't eat and wouldn't go around anyone until I came home. His name his brutus.
