I love science, physics mainly. I hate people who believe that they are scientists and do not question themselves or the way they use or believe to "scientific knowledge".
Oh, and "mass" originally means matter (why do i have the impression that its first meaning, in the language where it comes from, is "bread"? Someone check it out, please). Scientists (most of whom insist on the right, accurate use of words, god help them) often take words from the everyday ordinary world to describe things and phenomena in a more proper, "theoretical" way. Since mass means matter, we can describe with it almost whatever we see exist. Then we can count it, weigh it, buy it, eat it, drink it, sell it, etc. When we observe that mass relates to acceleration and force, and having derived the Newtonian laws (imagine the development of human thought and scientific knowledge through the centuries), we can define mass as the measure of the resistance of matter to rigid motion (lovely subtle new definitions, noone pays attention to your birth, and then you conquer our minds). Reaching the point where we discover that in some cases Newtonian laws do not apply, we can redefine mass, and distinguish inertia mass from another kind of mass, the name of which I do not remember right now. Et cetera.
(ROUGH EXPLANATION).

I do. I'm an enigneer, so you could say my work is applied science. I like a lot of different fields - physics/thermodynamics/quantum mechanics (I like quantum mechanics but it kicked my butt in college), biology/genetics/evolution/anthropology, astronomy/cosmology
My pet peeve is people who try to debate science that have no concept of how science works. I think you know what I'm talking about...

I love physics. Probably because I have such a hard time understanding people who KNOW physics. Ask them a question, and you get an answer than makes no sense or they get mad at you for asking.
Here is a good one; what is "mass?"
