Make sure that you are washing your face no more than twice a day. Overwashing can lead to more oil production. Use an astringent right after you wash. Use a face lotion with SPF, there are many lotions that are oil-free and won't cause acne. Pro-Active has a three step system, but you could use any brand. Use only non-comedic products. Decide on an acne treatment. Clinique has an awesome product that dries pimples and reduces their appearance. STICK TO THE ROUTINE. It may take up to a month for you to see any changes. Did you know that being out in the sun without sunscreen or a hat can cause acne? You will not see those pimples until four-six weeks after expsore to the UV rays. If the acne is severe you should go to dermotalogist. She might prescribe antibiotics or prescription strength topical meds. A shot of cortisone instantly gets rid of pimples. Have you noticed clusters of pimples or pimples that grow in the same spot? Popping pimples causes liquid to come out. That liquid clogs other pores leading to more pimples. YOu get more pimples in additon to scarring. You can use a mild astringent through out the day to clean up oily skin. Do not touch your face or allow anyone to touch your face. Wash your hair before you go to bed and pull it back away from your face. Hair absorbs all the chemicals in the air. Puting your face on a pillow that has been in contact with dirty hair could lead to more pimples. Make sure to clean your phone daily.

When your skin gets washed with harsh astringents it thinks there are no oils left in it so it produces double what it needs. So keep the washing of your face to a minimum of say 3x a day, morning after work or school and then before bed. I have adult acne and it is very annoying. Do you try very hard not to pop them, yes they do leave scars and who needs that. I have been using proactive for about 5 years now and I love it.
It is gentle and yet very effective. Please remember not to take all the natural oils from your skin as it only causes more damage.
Good luck!

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html

I use a medicated facial wash twice daily. Also I read that rubing sliced apples on your face can help remove oil build up. I haven't actually tried it, so we'll have to try together. and DO NOT pop them!!! Your friend is right, they do leave scars...I know. : )

Acne is officially a major bummer and it can deeply affect your confidence as well as ravaging your modelling career. Learning about the causes of acne can be the first step on the road to clearing your skin, so read carefully to establish which of the causes of acne is appropriate to you. At the beginning of my modeling career I had bad patches of shocking skin and my agency sent me in tears to a top dermatologist. I have piles of tried and tested advice and a great sympathy for bad skin sufferers as I have been there too.
The good news is that it can be controlled and I went on to do major skin campaigns for Shu Uemura, RMK makeup and was featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine and others for skin features promoting so called 'Perfect Skin'. You can do it too…

CAUSE OF ACNE 1
HORMONES
When you have an excess of the male hormone 'testosterone' in the blood, there is often trouble. In your teens, both young men and women have more testosterone than in later life. This annoyingly makes the sebaceous glands at the bottom of the hairs on your face, back or neck churn out too much oil, which then gets clogged in the pores. These hormones are one of the main causes of acne.

CAUSE OF ACNE 2
DIET
There is a widespread argument about whether poor diet causes acne, but in my opinion based on my own experiences of bad skin, diet definitely plays an important part. You can lessen the affects or highlight the misfortune of raging hormones by eating different types of foods. Greasy food and dairy based products don't do you any favours whereas fresh vegetables and drinking lots of water can only improve your bodies ability to fight toxins. If you are desperate to help your skin then use every method you can to help yourself.

STRESS
When you are in meltdown, due to exams, fall outs with parents or friends or your agent you may be hit by a bad skin wave. My last mega bad skin wave lasted the duration of the negotiation of a big modelling contract and lasted for two months, which was not cool. You must try to address the situation or at least distance yourself from it for you to calm down and for your skin to get back to normal - and it will, even though at times it seems that you will be stuck looking terrible forever.

CAUSE OF ACNE 4
BACTERIA
When I had my bad skin my mother would always nag at me not to touch my face with dirty hands or with used makeup sponges etc. Of course I didn't listen, I was more interested in covering up the redness pronto to save my embarrassment. However, of course she was right as bacteria is one of the most annoying and avoidable causes of acne. Train yourself not to touch your face in the day and chuck out all your old makeup. Limit the amount of products you put on your face to not over dry , and also don't squeeze, to avoid scarring. Instead of brushes, only use your own clean fingers (which by the way are as good as any makeup brush you can buy). If you are on a modelling job, take your own foundation and concealer and don't let the makeup artist mix your things with other models.
So that's it for the Lifeofamodel.com Skin Clinic 'Causes of Acne' Master class. I hope you can establish the most relevant causes of acne for yourself so you can go forward to treating your skin. Keep tuned for more. Please add your comments below and support others. Keep in touch, Kelly England.
