I purchased a battery from Checker Auto. The retailer sold me a battery with reverse terminals and upon installing the battery my vehicle sustained $600 in damages I filed a claim with the company and they said they would respond in (8) weeks. It has been 12 weeks and Checkers will not respond to any coorespondance. What is the best course of action? $600 is probably not worth hiring an attorney.

Who installed the battery? If Checker Auto did it they're responsible but if you bought the battery and installed it yourself or had someone else do it, it's all your fault. You can't hold someone else responsible for your misdeeds.

Small claims court. You don't need to hire an attorney and the majority of the time the retailer will just pay rather than go through the expense of also hiring an attorney. I would try to contact someone at the corporate office and talk to them about it. Usually with just the mention of civil action the retailer will try to take care of the matter. Remember, be professional about the matter!

Even though they sold you the battery, it's still your responsibility to make sure you have the correct part. I could see if they installed the battery for you, but it comes down to the person who installed the battery. "Round hole square peg" Now, your vehicle should have just blown fuses or fuse links. There sounds like their may have had something wrong with it before the battery.
